| 6/20/2011 - Armed Robbery | | At about 12:30am on June 20, 2011, a lone male armed with a handgun entered the Suds Hut Rar and Casino and committed a armed robbery where he obtained an undisclosed amount of money. The male who was described as standing approximately 5`10" to 6`00", with a medium build weighing approximately 170 - 180 pounds. Dressed in black clothing that covered his entire body. | | 5/1/2011 - Criminal Mischief to a Motor Vehicle and Theft | On May 1, 2011, the Helena Police department received a complaint of criminal mischief of a vehicle parked at the south side of Barney Park located off of Cleveland Street. When they arrived they located a 2009 blue Toyota Tacoma truck with a badly damaged windshield and driver`s side window. They also found the front left tire had also been slashed. When they examined the truck further, they discovered an iron (2 lbs) dumbbell on the floor between the seat and door. Investigation determined the suspect had thrown the dumbbell through the driver`s door window across the cab and hit the passenger door inside causing the damage to the upholstery. The victim reported missing a set of snow shoes from the vehicle. | | 4/28/2011 - Criminal Mischief |  |
On April 28, 2011 the owner of Underwater Word located at 1018 Custer Ave reported a suspect entered his business and had used an unknown substance to contaminate his salt water fish tanks. A review of the security video show a white male adult standing approximately 5’11” to 6’1” wearing jeans, a maroon or red hooded sweat shirt and black stocking cap, black and athletic shoes with different colored shoe strings in each shoes and possibly a earring in the left ear entered the business. While in the store he milled around the fish tanks with his hands in his pockets and spoke with the owner. When the owner became distracted, the suspect withdrew his right hand and threw a white powdery substance into the tanks. This was observed on one or more occasion. Shortly after the suspect left the owner discovered his fish were dying. | | 3/25/2011 - Criminal Mischief to BLM property |  |
The Bureau of Land Management would like to request the assistance of the public in identifying the person/s responsible for the damage to BLM property located During summer 2010, the BLM -- Butte Field Office began implementing the East Helena Travel Management Plan, which included lands in the North Hills area. BLM employees constructed a single gate, a double gate, and a fence-type walk-through, all connected by a large section of jack-leg fencing at the lower trailhead of the North Hills Area. The gates allow BLM to restrict access to 2 routes from February 14 thru April 16 each year in an effort to prevent soil erosion. Over the past 3 months, there have been multiple incidents of vandalism have occurred where the single gate and jack-leg fence (including the walk through portion) have been damaged beyond repair. During this same time period, the double gate was damaged, but has since been temporarily repaired. Multiple aluminum signs were also damaged and/or stolen. The estimated damage to U.S. Government property is at least $5,000.00. Sometime between Friday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 22nd, someone entered the Helena Indian Alliance building located at 501 Euclid. Once inside, individuals forced their way into a secured caged area where property was being stored. They entered the caged area and stole with approximately 35 new Teton Sports sleeping bags, 3 tents, 50 blankets, 20-30 pairs of black leather combat boots and desert combat boots, 20-30 black fleece coats, towels, and two crock pots. The property stolen in this burglary belonged to the Montana Veterans Foundation and was either surplus donated by the military or purchased by the Veterans Foundation to give to the homeless or other individuals in need. | | 3/24/2011 - Ciminal Mischief | On March 24, 2011, the Helena Police Department received a report of Criminal Mischief on Peosta Avenue in Helena. The victim in this crime reported parking their 2007 Toyota Prius in front of their garage in the alley behind their residence the evening of March 23, 2011. They said when they returned to their car at 7:00am the following morning they discovered person/s unknown had severely damaged their vehicle by smashing the windshields front and back and the tail lights. The car also sustained damage to the body as well. The cost of this crime has been estimated to be in excess of $3,000.00. | | 3/23/2011 - Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief to a Motor Vehicle |  |
March 23, 2011, the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle theft from the 1400 block of Big Horn Drive. The victim in this crime reported parking their silver 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier convertible in front of their residence. The vehicle was last seen at 0300 hours in the morning. The victim discovered the vehicle missing at around 0900 hours. The vehicle was located northwest of Applegate Road. The vehicle was totally burnt and damaged beyond repair and recognition. Items suspected to have been taken from the vehicle were a black Magellan GPS unit, a black Cobra radar detector, and a silver I-Pod mini. The cost of this crime has been estimated at over $5,000.00. | | 3/5/2011 - Strong Armed Robbery |  |
On March 5, 2011, the Helena Police Department received a report of a strong armed robbery that had occurred in the early hours of that morning. The victim reported to officers that he had met two males and a female at the Rialto Bar, the victim believed the people knew the crowd of people attending the party and agreed to ride with them in their Ford Explorer(similar to the photo)to a afterhours party when the bar closed. After riding with these people for a few blocks the victim realized they were not following the other cars heading for the party. The victim stated when got to an open area near Linden, he was attacked and robbed of his wallet, cell telephone and jacket.
